The Role

As the leader in delivering community outcomes in aquatics, this role is entrusted with ensuring the aquatic programs support the development of a resilient, thriving and diverse community.

The role supports the Head of Active Communities in the delivery of the aquatics strategic plan that will improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities across our community.

As an experienced manager within aquatics this role will be responsible for leading the Learn to Swim, Squad and other aquatics programs, driving high levels of customer satisfaction, teaching techniques, program optimisation and financial performance.

Working with the Head of Active Communities the role drives innovation through collaboration with industry, community and Council stakeholders. This position plays a key role in ensuring the programs create opportunities for community connections and foster a sense of pride of place in the centres to meet the diverse aspirations, needs and profile of each unique surrounding community.

As a leader within Belgravia the role can liaise and work with Belgravia national leads to drive industry best practice within the City Contract and actively seek feedback from the City’s contract partners, cultivating a culture of collaboration and excellence.

This role is expected to work across all six centres supporting centre leadership teams and
direct reports.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and support the Learn to Swim and Squad teams to achieve business outcomes and foster a collaborative culture.
  • Develop, implement, and track the annual aquatics plan with the Head of Active Communities.
  • Monitor and report on program performance, ensuring KPIs are met and implementing corrective actions.
  • Oversee program coordination to enhance engagement and drive participation.
  • Support centre teams during peak periods to ensure high customer satisfaction and monitor service standards.
  • Implement member retention strategies and monitor customer feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Sales and Guest Experience Manager to achieve targets and maximise community participation.
  • Foster teaching excellence through training plans, performance monitoring, and compliance.
  • Optimise programs with efficient timetables, lane allocations, and roster management.
  • Develop pathways from Learn to Swim to Squad in collaboration with the Head Squad Coach.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications relevant to the role or equivalent
    experience
  • Current Swim Teacher Licence
  • Current First Aid Certificate - Workplace Level 2 (can be attained upon employment)
  • Current CPR Certificate (can be attained upon
    employment)
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current National Police Check
