by Aquatic Recreation Institute on March 04, 2025

This Thursday, we’re bring the New South Wales Aquatic, Recreation & Learn to Swim Industries together for International Women’s Day. This is a chance to connect, learn, and be inspired by the incredible women shaping out space.

Dr. Marlee King is an international fitness presenter and Australia’s only Aqua Zumba® ZIN™ Jammer (choreographer), sharing her choreography with Aqua Zumba instructors worldwide. With over a decade of experience in aquatic fitness, she was recognized as AUSactive’s Aqua Fitness Professional of the Year in 2023.

Just recently, Marlee was given the opportunity to share her passion for aquatic fitness on national TV (Weekend Sunrise) by showcasing Acquapole at SGAC - the first center in Sydney to offer it.

Beyond fitness, Marlee is an accomplished academic. She earned a Doctorate in Health Psychology at just 25 and was named Chifley Young Woman of the Year. As an educator, researcher, and lecturer, she is dedicated to enhancing the skills and job readiness of early-career professionals.

Her background in psychology provides a deep understanding of human behavior, interpersonal dynamics, and well-being, which she integrates into both her academic and fitness pursuits. Passionate about making a difference, Marlee uses her expertise to improve the mental and physical health of her community, fostering positive and inclusive environments through movement and education.

Marlee joins with panelists Suellen Goyne, Erin McMullan, and Tash Foley as they share their journeys, leadership insights, and their predictions for the future of our workforce.
