The Aquatics and Recreation Institute NSW, the leading body for aquatic industry professionals, today announced that it has appointed Matt Griffiths as Chair of its Board of Directors. He succeeds Nichole Edsall who has recently commenced a new role with the City of Sydney overseeing the management contracts of some of Australia’s highest profile aquatic venues. Ms Edsall will remain on the Board as a Director.
Reflecting on her time as Chairperson, Ms Edsall states, “I was happy to step into the role as Chairperson and lead the ARI through an important period of change, however with starting a new position, I wanted to ensure the right person is in the Chair role, that can provide the dedication needed to lead the ARI. ”
Ms Edsall is succeeded by Matt Griffiths who has worked in the aquatics sector for more than 15 years holding senior roles across commercial enterprise, local government and industry bodies and is currently employed by BlueFit. Mr Griffiths has served on the ARI’s Board for almost a decade and is passionately committed to the ARI’s mission of providing support, direction, and increased professional development opportunities for ARI members.
Incoming ARI Chairperson, Matt Griffiths commented, “The ARI plays a vital role in the aquatics and recreation sector which, due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19, is currently more important than ever. It is a privilege to be given the opportunity to lead the Board and I look forward to working with them to further enhance the offerings that ARI is able to provide to its members and advocate strongly on our members behalf.”
“I’d like to acknowledge and thank Nichole Edsall for her time as Chairperson. Her leadership has ensured the ARI is well positioned to confront the challenges that both the organisation and the sector face into the future”, said Mr Griffiths.
With the recent announcement of a new strategic direction, the ARI will soon release the details of its enhanced suite of member services and program of events for the coming year.
