WINNER: ELIZABETH LE BRETON

The winner of the 2021 Aquatic & Recreation Institute (ARI) AWARD OF EXCELLENCE is Elizabeth Le Breton from Blue Mountains City Council.

This award recognises outstanding levels of achievement. The award can include great leadership shown through the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Elizabeth Le Breton from Blue Mountains City Council is the coordinator of the upper Blue Mountains Leisure and Aquatic centres.

Elizabeth showed exceptional leadership through the pandemic. She has shown support to staff through staying in contact, supporting redeployment, organised maintenance to be completed and coordinated daily health and wellbeing online sessions.

Mental health and physical wellbeing are very important to Elizabeth. Through lockdown she was able to organise fitness and stretch zoom classes each day for all council staff. This initiative was well supported with staff stating the classes gave their day structure and allowed them to interact with the rest of their colleagues in a unique way.

The Blue Mountains City Council centres were able to offer full services and programs when reopening as Elizabeth Le Breton communication and leadership ensured the team was ready.

The Award of Excellence is sponsored by Orimatech.
