 Nomination Guidelines

  • The guide outlines all the award details.
  • For each award, there is a separate nomination form listing the criteria.
  • Download and complete the relevant nomination form.
  • Email the completed nomination form to admin@arinsw.com.au
  • Videos are not compulsory. If you would like to submit a video, then upload it to You tube and include the You tube link in the nomination form.

  • Nominations close 24 December 2021.
  • The Virtual Awards will be held in late January 2022.

 

Lifeguard Award

This award recognises commitment and dedication of a pool lifeguard for their development of skills, level of training and service toward performing their duties.

Essential Criteria

  • Member of the Aquatic & Recreation Institute.
  • Current qualifications in accordance with national and/or state specific best practice.

Required Information

  • Details of achievements in the areas of service, skills, and training.
  • Details of any feedback on commitment and dedication to the position received from any customers, peers and/or employer.
  • A general statement on overall work ethic.

Duty Manager Award

This award recognises commitment and dedication of a Duty Manager for their leadership skills, responsibility and dedication to the position and overall management of a facility.

Essential Criteria

  • Member of the Aquatic & Recreation Institute.
  • Current qualifications in accordance with national and/or state specific best practice.
Required Information
  • Details of achievements in the areas of leadership, facility operations and commitment to safety.
  • Details of any feedback on commitment and dedication to the position received from any customers, peers and/or employer.
  • A general statement on overall work ethic.

Customer Service Team Award

This award recognises commitment and dedication of a cohesive customer service team who display professionalism, have extensive service knowledge, can handle conflict, and work well under pressure.

 Essential Criteria

  • Member of the Aquatic & Recreation Institute.

Required Information

Demonstrate and provide examples of:

  • Details of positive feedback – example - survey or feedback forms.
  • Knowledge of the facility and its services.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to manage conflict situations in a positive and professional manner.
  • Cohesive team.
  • Going above and beyond the call of duty.

Swim School Award

This award recognises an individual or team that are committed and dedicated to the teaching of swimming and water safety.

Essential Criteria

  • Member of the Aquatic & Recreation Institute.
  • Current learn-to swim qualifications in accordance with national and/or state specific best practice.
Required Information
  • Details of achievements in the areas of service, skills, and swim teaching.
  • Details of any feedback on commitment and dedication received from any customers.
  • Provide details of the type of programs offered including population groups that the programs cater for.

    Environmental Sustainability Award

    This award recognises commitment to Environmental Sustainability operations and business initiatives.

    Essential Criteria

    • Member of the Aquatic & Recreation Institute.
    • Evidence of how your current operations and management practices have implemented improvements to at least 1 area of water efficiency, energy efficiency or waste reductions.
     Required Information
    • Select at least one area of environmental sustainability achievement improvements:
      • Energy efficiency – outline improvements to reduce energy consumption.
      • Water efficiency – outline improvements to reduce water usage.
      • Waste reduction – outline waste management strategies used to reduce excess waste.
    • Outline new technology or practices related to the environmentally sustainable project.
    • Outline what makes your innovation unique or a point of difference.

    Access Inclusion Award

    This award recognises a program or facility that has shown commitment to access and inclusion.

    Essential Criteria

    • Member of the Aquatic & Recreation Institute.
    • Evidence of how the program implemented is inclusive to all abilities or evidence on how a facility has meet the community needs with expectations on disability access and social inclusion.
     Required Information
    • Select at least one area of improvement for access and inclusion:
      • Program that is inclusive to all abilities.
      • Facility meets the community needs on disability access and social inclusion.
    • Outline how you have met the needs of the community for access and inclusion.
    • Outline what makes your program or facility unique or a point of difference.

    Children’s Program Award

    This award recognises community-based programs using aquatic or land-based activities that are enhancing the wellbeing of children in the local community.

    Essential Criteria

    • Member of the Aquatic & Recreation Institute.
    • Evidence of how the program implemented increased the opportunity for children to participate and supports change to a healthy and active lifestyle, or other health and social benefits.
     Required Information
    • Details of the program
    • Outline how the program has increased children participation.

    Emerging Leader Award

    This award recognises someone aged 35 years and younger who is committed, passionate, motivated and shows potential leadership abilities.

    Essential Criteria

    • Member of the Aquatic & Recreation Institute.

    • Date of birth.
    • Details of the person, including how they have proven to be committed, passionate and motivated.
    • Examples on how they have shown potential leadership abilities.
    • A general statement on overall work ethic.

    This award recognises outstanding levels of achievement by individuals or a team and may be submitted by the nominee, their employer, colleague, or industry representative.  The award will include great leadership shown through the COVID-19 Pandemic.

     Essential Criteria

     Required Information
    • Details of achievements.
    • Details of any feedback on commitment and dedication to the position.
    • Leadership examples shown through-out the COVID-19 Pandemic.

    Adam Lloyd Memorial Spirit Award

    In memory of Adam Lloyd this award acknowledges someone who has a generous spirit. The award may be submitted by an employer, colleague, or industry representative. For someone who is generous, giving to their team and solution driven.

    • Member of the Aquatic & Recreation Institute.
    Required Information
    • Details of the person, including why they have a generous spirit and how they give to their team.
    • Examples on how they are solution driven.

    The Supplier of the Year award is designed to recognise ARI Sponsors and Trade member companies that excel in serving ARI members.  All ARI Sponsors and Trade members are eligible to win.  ARI members will be eligible to vote for a winner, based on the service they have been provided.

    AH Pierce Memorial Facility of the Year Award

    The Facility of the Year award is in memory of Harold Pierce who represented his company since 1961 at most of the conferences and seminars that the ARI has held. The AH Pierce Memorial Facility of the Year award will recognise facilities that have implemented best practice processes and provide quality service to the community.

    Essential Criteria

    • Member of the Aquatic & Recreation Institute.
     Required Information
    • Outline your business:
      • Details of the centre.
      • Total visitations (for July 2019 to June 2020 & July 2020 to June 2021).
      • Include total visitations within each area of the facility, example total aquatics and then total fitness or recreation.
    • Programs:
      • Type and numbers in each program.
      • Outline details of programs including any community initiatives.
    • Customer Service:
      • Outline the customer service philosophy and how you achieved it.
      • Outline customer feedback practices, including examples on implementation.
    • Staff:
      • Outline total number of staff.
      • Outline commitment to staff training, including any unique processes implemented to retain staff.
    • Business plans:
      • Details on any business plans or strategies that you have implemented including results.
      • Details on any promotional campaigns including results.
    • Industry best practice:
      • Outline how you meet industry best practice.
    • Outline management operational processes for:
      • Hazardous Chemical Management.
      • Emergency Procedures.
      • Incident management.
      • Plant and technical operations.
    • Risk Management process:
      • Risk management policy and procedure implementation.
      • Commitment and implementation of WHS policies.
