We deliver first class activity and program choice, we promote Blacktown City as the leader in sport, recreation and leisure and we give every visitor and customer a safe and memorable experience. The award- winning Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope sits in the Key Venues section of Council’s City Living Directorate. The venue is regional facility with a 25 m lap pool, program pool and indoor wave pool, a thriving learn to swim program, gym and group exercise programs, 4 court indoor stadium and 16 outdoor tennis courts. The Operations Coordinator is a 2 i/c position at the centre on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Operations Coordinator is the section head for the Activity Officer/ Duty Manager roles, Service Advisor (customer service) oversight and rosters the aquatics team including Activity Assistants and maintenance requirements.

Position purpose

The position is responsible for the deployment of resources, managing rosters and acting as Duty Manager cover as required. The Operations Coordinator is a Controlling Officer and is responsible for all operational matters including WHS, emergency procedures, compliance and customer service.

An ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the monitoring and maintaining pool water quality in accordance NSW Health guidelines and industry recommendations. This role also looks after the coordination and implementation of all centre maintenance requirements, including preventative maintenance, pool plant maintenance, mechanical services maintenance and contract maintenance.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Experience in successfully managing (including financial, physical and human resource management) a range of programmes and events within a recreation and leisure environment and preferably in an aquatic facility context
  • Certificate in Supervisory Management or equivalent
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Current driver's license
  • Current Working with Children Check.

Desirable:

  • A higher qualification in relevant recreation facility/programme management field
  • Pool Lifeguard License
  • Pool plant operator’s qualification
  • Relevant experience and appropriate qualifications in accordance with requirements outlined in the position description
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations
  • Computer literate in basic office applications and the ability to quickly learn corporate applications.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,660.60 per week
  • 35 hour working week
