About the opportunity

An exciting permanent, full-time opportunity exists to join the Key Venues section of Blacktown City Council in a senior leadership role.

Key Venues consists of 11 of the Council’s premier sport and leisure facilities. We deliver first-class activity and program choice, we promote Blacktown City as the leader in sport, recreation and leisure and we give every visitor and customer a safe and memorable experience. The Key Venues - Chief Operations Manager reports to the Manager Key Venues and plays a pivotal role in ensuring our venues comply fully with all WHS regulations, guidelines, procedures, processes and systems. The role also has oversight of programs and activities that operate across the venues including Aqua Learn to Swim, Health and Fitness, junior activities, birthday parties and sports competitions.

Position purpose

This position will:

  • Coordinate across venues compliance with all WHS requirements, systems and procedures
  • oversee and coordinate Key Venues training requirements to ensure compliance with pre-requisite qualifications and to offer development opportunities
  • act in an advisory capacity to all Key Venues for matters involving plant and technical equipment
  • work collaboratively with all positions across the Key Venues section through close liaison with personnel at all levels of the structure
  • establish a close strategic and operational relationship with Council colleagues to ensure consistency of application.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Experience in successfully managing (including financial, physical and human resource management) a range of programs and events within a recreation and leisure environment and preferably in an aquatic facility context, for a minimum of five (5) years
  • Certificate in Supervisory Management or equivalent
  • Demonstrable ability to work to strict deadlines and coordinate multiple tasks.

Desirable:

  • A higher qualification in relevant recreation facility/program management field
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current Class "C" driver's licence.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • A competitive salary range of $2,156.90 - $2,415.80 (Grade 19) per week will be offered based on skills, qualifications and experience
  • A competitive salary will be negotiated with the preferred candidate based on qualifications and experience
  • 35 hour working week 
  • Leaseback vehicle
