Charlie Lowles Leisure Centre Emerton is an award-winning multipurpose facility that offers quality programs and services. Our Centre includes both indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities including 50m and 20m outdoor pools, 25m and program/leisure indoor pools, indoor waterslide and an outdoor warm water therapy pool as well as a 2-court stadium.

We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to join the Key Venues team as a Activity Officer (Duty Manager) on a permanent, full-time basis at Charlie Lowles Leisure Centre Emerton. Activity Officers are responsible for ensuring the effective day to day operations of the centre through the effective use of available resources and adherence to policy and procedures. They will provide a high level of service in line with industry best practice and customer satisfaction.

If you have a Pool Lifeguard and First Aid certificate, aquatic and leisure experience with great leadership, customer service and troubleshooting skills then this is the role for you!

Duties of the role includes:

• Ensuring the Centre operates successfully and in accordance with operational and service goals
• Organise available resources on a duty basis, ensuring the delivery of a safe, enjoyable and positive environment for all visitors and staff
• Have knowledge and familiarity with centre programs, operations and procedures providing a high level of customer service by liaising with the team
• Observing and ensuring compliance of pool supervision and water quality standards in the operation of public swimming pools
• Monitor and report equipment, plant and building services failures through preventative maintenance and actioning any repairs
• Respond and deal with conflict and complaints, incidents and first aid
• Facility setup, cleanliness and WHS management.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

• Current Pool Lifeguard Certificate
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Current CPR Certificate and Oxygen Equipment
• Experience in a similar environment
• Current Class C Driver's Licence
• Current Working with Children Check.

Desirable:

• TAFE Certificate of Attainment (Pool Operations)
• Experience in managing time effectively
• Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations Activity Officer (Duty Manager)
• Experience and knowledge of the operation and aquatic plant and equipment and other resources associated with the provision of recreation facilities, programmes and events
• Demonstrated commitment to customer service
• Experience in the shift coordination of an aquatic/leisure centre
• Experience in working within a team environment and as a ‘self-starter’
• Computer literate.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

• Entry level for this position starts at $1,210.10 per week plus an additional 12.25% in accordance with Council's flexibility agreement
• 114 hours over a 3 week rotational roster, working 1 weekend in a 3 week cycle
