Unpacking the Psychology of Lifeguarding

The session will describe the development of a research-led training solution for pool lifeguarding. It will include descriptions of the stages of development from surveys of parents, to comparisons between the sustained attention of lifeguards and non lifeguards during virtual reality lifeguarding scenarios. The session will culminate in a description of a virtual reality training tool that has been developed in collaboration with YMCA NSW and which constitutes the outcome of the research initiative.
