This web site is operated by Aquatic and Recreation Institute (“ARI”) under the domain name www.aquaticinstitute.com.au. Your use of this website is subject to the provisions below.


While we have made every effort to ensure that information is free from error, ARI does not warrant the accuracy, adequacy or completeness of the information, graphics and materials on the ARI Site or any third party web site linked to the ARI Site (“Third Party Site”). ARI does not guarantee that the ARI Site or any Third Party Site will be free from viruses.

ARI is not responsible for the results of any action taken or not taken on the basis of any information on this website, nor for any error or omission in that information. ARI expressly disclaims all and any liability and responsibility in respect of anything done consequent on the whole or any part of the information on the ARI Site. ARI shall not be liable for any loss, damage, liability, expense, cost or personal injury, whether direct or indirect, consequential or incidental, which you suffer, incur or are liable for, howsoever caused (whether due to ARI’s negligence or otherwise), arising from or in connection with your use of the ARI Site.

Acceptable Use

In making your contribution to this website, you agree that you will not use our site to take any of the following actions:

  1. Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity. Making false, misleading or deceptive representations that you are another person or character can amount to a criminal offence and give rise to civil liability;
  2. Abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate the legal rights of others;
  3. Post, upload, email, distribute or disseminate (collectively, “Transmit”) any misleading, deceptive, false, defamatory or libellous content;
  4. Transmit insulting, threatening or provocative language, or language that is hateful towards a certain group of people;
  5. Transmit content to incite hatred on the basis of race, religion, gender, nationality or sexuality or other personal characteristics;
  6. Transmit inappropriate, profane, defamatory, obscene or indecent content;
  7. To conduct any illegal activity or solicit the performance of any illegal activity;
  8. To contribute any text or other material that infringes the intellectual property rights of others;
  9. Spam your contribution to the website by sending multiple copies or versions of it;
  10. Advertise or offer to sell any goods or services for any commercial purpose unless you have our written consent to do so;
  11. Transmit personal website addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers or any other personally identifiable information;
  12. Collect or store personal information of any other person or group;
  13. Transmit off-topic, or irrelevant contributions not in keeping with the current topics or themes;

Intellectual Property


The information, graphics and materials on the ARI Site are protected by copyright under the laws of Australia and, through international treaties, other countries. With the exception of the uses defined below, no part of this material may be reproduced or copied in any form or by any means, electronic or mechanical, including photocopying, without the written permission of the publisher.

The following users are permitted:

  • You may make paper copies of materials supplied under this service for use within the Member Organisation.
  • You may download electronic copies of materials for temporary off-line purposes. These downloaded copies must be destroyed on non-renewal of Membership

The following uses are prohibited:

  • You are explicitly prohibited from distributing or storing copies (electronic or paper) of any material downloaded from the ARI for use external to your organisation (for Organisation Members) or for commercial purposes.
  • It is a condition of membership that all paper or electronic copies must be destroyed on non-renewal of Membership. At its discretion, ARI may require a certificate that destruction has occurred.


Please understand that by submitting a contribution, you accept full responsibility for ensuring that in making your contribution your intellectual property rights are not lost or diminished. This is for your own protection.

ARI does not warrant that any material or information you contribute will be protected against loss, misuse or alteration by third parties. In particular, ARI does not warrant that you will not suffer loss or diminution of any intellectual property rights you currently own or may be able to obtain in relation to any material or information that you contribute.

If your contribution includes material in which the copyright is owned by another person or entity, you warrant that you have obtained all necessary permissions, authorisations, licences and consents required for the use of such materials and have made arrangements for the payment of any royalties or other fees payable in respect of the use of such material.

You agree to indemnify ARI against any loss, liability, claim, demand, damage or expense (including legal fees) asserted by an third party (including yourself) arising out of a breach of the warranty referred to above or of these terms and conditions.

You grant ARI a royalty-free and irrevocable licence to do any act comprised in the copyright (including reproducing, publishing, performing or communicating to the public) in relation to the stories, material or information you contribute.


ARI understands and appreciates that you, as an ARI Site visitor, are concerned about your privacy and about the confidentiality and security of information we may gain about you online. Your email message content may be monitored by our Internet Service Provider or ARI employees for trouble shooting and maintenance purposes or where email abuse is suspected.

ARI takes reasonable steps to preserve the security of cookie and personal information in accordance with these Website Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If your browser is suitably configured, it will advise you whether the information you are sending us will be secure (encrypted) or not secure (not encrypted).

ARI regularly reviews developments in security and encryption technologies. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed as totally secure. Accordingly, although ARI strives to protect such information, ARI cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we take reasonable steps to preserve the security of the information in our own systems.
